Trillian for Web: Version 2.0 now available and free for everyone!

Trillian for Web

Trillian 2.0 for Web is now available! With the 2.0 release, it’s now even easier than ever to use Trillian for Web as your full-time IM client when you’re away from your desktop. Listening closely to customer feedback, we’ve added a batch of great new features:

  • Facebook Chat
  • Avatars within the contact list
  • Sound preferences
  • Contact list views – simple, tiny, medium, large
  • Contact list management – drag and drop to re-arrange, deleting, renaming, etc
  • Status messages shown in message windows and the contact list
  • Enhanced connection manager settings – control XMPP server and port, privacy settings, and more
  • URL previews – try mousing over a URL to see a quick summary, useful for resolving shortened links
  • Language packs
  • Inline registration of new Astra Accounts

Additionally, we’ve decided to make the new version free for everyone! To offset the costs of running the service, we’ll be experimenting with different forms of advertising on an ongoing basis. For now, we’ve added a small banner ad on the top of the window showcasing Trillian for iPhone. You should expect additional changes to the experience as we iterate and tweak things, and we’ll be listening closely to customer feedback and ideas. Note that Pro customers will not see any advertising.

Trillian for iPhone Build 272, Trillian for Web Build 621.

New versions of the iPhone and Web clients have been released – Trillian for iPhone Build 272 and Trillian for Web Build 621. We’ve been making minor tweaks to the iPhone version – nothing changelog-worthy – but this build is a required update. Although we try to avoid forcing updates on iPhone users, a minor tweak to our backend protocol made this upgrade a forced update. Please use the original download link in your invitation to update your device and let us know if you see any issues. Enjoy!

Trillian for iPhone Build 269, Trillian for Web Build 600.

More fixes for the iPhone and Web versions today – Trillian for iPhone Build 269 and Trillian for Web Build 600. Testers for the web version should be automatically upgraded the next time they login to the service, and iPhone users should use the download link in their invitation email to grab the latest build. We’ve also decided to hold off on distributing Windows Build 112 to the general testing population as it introduced a few regression bugs we’d rather not force on everyone, so we’re working on getting Build 113 out instead. Enjoy the new builds!

iPhone testers: the provision file has been updated in 269! Don’t forget to re-install it by following the original instructions in the README file or the build won’t run!

If you notice a translation that you’d like to improve, feel free to join the effort!
