Trillian 2.1 for iOS: Trillian group chats, tweaks and fixes!

Trillian 2.1 for iOS is now available featuring a few notable changes:

Trillian group chats.
To start our group chat support, we’re adding support for Trillian to Trillian group chats. If you have any other friends on Trillian you can now easily add them to a group conversation! Now that we’ve tackled the basics of group chat and the underlying UI changes, our next milestone will be to add XMPP conferencing to our iOS version for those of you that rely on these for work.

Device management.
You can now see the devices you’re connected to directly from the iOS interface in a manner similar to Trillian for Windows.

In-house server support.
Previous versions of Trillian for iOS were incompatible with in-house Trillian Server deployments. If your company runs a Trillian Server you can now connect to it using this version of Trillian for iOS.

We’ve fixed the bug where images would sometimes fail to download or end up in a corrupted, half-downloaded state. We also remember the state of your camera’s flash so you don’t accidentally flash a restaurant while taking a picture of your food. :) Those of you beta testing iOS 7 will also note we’ve slightly tweaked our icon to make it blend nicer within the flatter world of iOS 7. We plan on making additional changes as well moving forward.

Next steps.
Android users, we haven’t forgotten about you: we’ve been working on Trillian for Android to make sure it was on par, feature-wise, with Trillian for iOS 2.1. Sorry for the delay, but we are now just a few weeks away from a public beta of Trillian 2.0 for Android in full holo-themed glory!

Trillian 2.0 for iOS: Now with iPad support!

We are pleased to introduce Trillian 2.0 for iOS, the first release of Trillian as a universal app that works on your iPhone, iPod, and iPad!

Trillian 2.0 features a beautiful new interface designed exclusively for your iPad. Because Trillian’s primary element is a collection of small chat bubbles, simply “making things bigger” felt awkward to us; worse, large windows with small text snippets sometimes required a slight turn of the head while reading. Our solution keeps chat windows sanely sized and uses the rest of the screen for tabs, swiping, and in-app notifications!

Across the iPhone and iPad, Trillian’s new launchpad UI lets you keep up with the people most important to you at a single glance. Paired with optional address book integration, Trillian can now automatically import names and photos to really make your launchpad shine. In addition, your standard contact list is still available, searchable, groupable, and sortable according to your personal preferences – we’ve even added a few new settings!

Improved Security.
Although we’ve always transmitted passwords using TLS, Trillian 2.0 now uses TLS everywhere, meaning all of your chats are now encrypted over the wire and better protected from third-party eavesdropping. Privacy and security are very important to us and we’ll continue our efforts at keeping private conversations private.

Polished and shined.
Trillian 2.0 is the fastest version of Trillian yet, with additional speedups and optimizations across the board. Almost every screen of Trillian has been improved, from minor graphic updates to ensuring orientation changes are as smooth as silk. Chat windows now support in-window notifications to let you easily read messages from more than one person at a time. A mobile indicator – for those of you that use the Trillian chat network – helps your friends quickly know when you’re away from your desk. Lastly, a whole batch of new emoticons make their proud debut in this release!

Next steps.
We’ll be bringing all of this thinking to Trillian for Android in the next major release, so stay tuned if you’re an Android geek. In the meantime we’ll be listening carefully to user feedback and making improvements. Thanks for your support and we hope you enjoy Trillian 2.0 for iOS!

Trillian 1.6 for iPhone: Now free of charge.

We’re pleased to announce that Trillian for iPhone is our second mobile application to go free, so head on over to the App Store on your favorite iOS device to get your copy! We’ve fixed a handful of bugs in this build, added a basic chat history viewer, and made major improvements to our networking engine. You should notice fewer disconnects and should be able to interface with existing chat windows more easily even when you’ve lost your network connection.

If you’ve already purchased Trillian for iPhone in the past, your account has been automatically upgraded to ad-free status. You purchased an ad-free client with free upgrades and you will continue to receive an ad-free client with free upgrades. As an additional perk, your ad-free status will go with you across all mobile platforms, so if you switch to an Android or BlackBerry one day your original iPhone purchase will be honored as if you bought Trillian there as well! Of course, if you’re a Trillian Pro customer you can also take advantage of an ad-free experience everywhere, with the additional perk of cloud history. If you notice any bugs here please send us an email and we’ll investigate right away.

We’re already hard at work on an amazing new version of Trillian for iPhone, featuring many popular feature requests and some awesome new UI enhancements. Stay tuned, and thanks for supporting Trillian!

Trillian 1.5 for iPhone: Stability improvements and fixes, emoticons, in-app browser!

Version 1.5 of Trillian for iPhone has been approved and will be available in the App Store shortly! Our number one goal with version 1.5 was to improve connection stability, fix crashes, improve speed, and address as many corner cases as we possibly could. As a result, we’ve fixed a large number of bugs and improved many different internal areas of code. Loading and resuming Trillian has also been dramatically sped up, especially for those of you with large contact lists. A new emoticon browser has been added featuring the familiar Trillian emoticons, we’ve fixed the annoying URL rendering issues, and we’ve added an in-app browser to view links easily from within Trillian!

We hope you enjoy the new release. We will continue to work on improvements and speedups moving forward!
